If the CentOS LiveCD does not work, I'd try Fedora, Ubuntu, or Knoppix to see if any flavor of Linux will work on your hardware.

May be an issue with creating LiveUSB media as you need a functional Linux system to do it. Catch 22.

I did not find something useful

As far as supporting your hardware - don't find any other reference to that specific system on the site. I'd try the LiveCD before blowing away Windows. It may also be useful (assuming it supports networking on your hardware) if you encounter issues during the install and need internet access.

Hey all
I want to 'kill' my XP and move to CentOS
I used a copy of CentOS 5.3-i386 but by VirtualBox and now i am ready to move to Linux.

I have a couple of questions.
I will be without the internet when I will install Linux, so i need to know does CentOS support my hardware:

Toshiba Qosmio G30-195

CPU Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, T7600, 2330 MHz, L2 4096 Kb, FSB 667 MHz, Intel® i945PM Express

monitor WUXGA, 17,0" , 1920×1200

2048 Mb DDR2-533

NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7600, 256 Mb, PCI Express

I tried to run Maya (Autodesk Maya 2008 (Unlimited) ) in VirtualBox (CnetOS) but i think it(Maya) does not work because VirtualBox does not show to Linux real video card. it supports just some simple analoges, so Maya does not work (I used Wine to simulate win32)
Am I right ?
So Maya will run if the system "see" real hardware and uses full functionality drivers. is this correct?
