CentOS 6.2 Release?
Posted by pschaff on 2011/12/6 16:13:56
Signs point to an imminent RHEL-6.2 release. Bets on CentOS-6.2 release date are now open.

Edit:
# rpm -q redhat-release-server
redhat-release-server-6Server-6.2.0.3.el6.x86_64
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.2 (Santiago)

Same day as RHEL 6.3, if today is precedent...

We'll see.
In the meantime, I'll bet that someone is bound to ask a question: CR?

Unfortunately, by that time, the response from many people might well be "What is CentOS?" or 'I think I read about that in the "History of Linux" opening chapter of one of my technical books' (Oh yeah, that's right, books will be replaced by tablets by then as well !).
It took a lot to resist the temptation to start a new "CentOS 6.3 Release?" thread.

CentOS currently gets 86,400,000 hits on Google, is #8 on
DistroWatch today, and is still on their
Major Distributions page, so reports of its demise seem to be premature.

That would not be considered fair game until
TUV releases RHEL6u3.

Funny but I hope that this story will end with centos 6.1 since the story
isn't really funny.

Some 6.2 updates from Twitter:

6.2 news: we have completed all package requirements. Now working to get the tree's passing all tests.

Believe it or not ....
We have just pushed a 6.2 iso set and trees for i386 and x86_64 to the QA server.
There are 3 or 4 packages that we (kbsingh and I) know need to be built/rebuilt.
I think we can realistically expect to have the packages in CR in a week or less time.
It is not April 1st. so this is NOT a joke !!!!!

Fine. Then
your post on the CentOS mailing list is not a joke, right?

The CentOS team sucks ... it took XXXX days to do 6.1 ... it is going to
take twice as long to get 6.2
My mom said CentOS blows.
kbsingh is ugly.
hughesjr is old and fat.

Old Glory seems dominant.

You should have a bigger Union Jack!

Thank you for your generosity but I must clarify one point.
The flag of
Her Britannic Majesty's United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the
Union Flag. It is an oft made mistake to refer to it as the
Union Jack.

The
Union Flag can appear as a
jack when the suitably small sized version of the flag is flown from the
jack staff of a Naval Vessel!
