Centos Apache suPHP Help

Centos 5.7
Apache 2.2.3
suPHP 0.7.1

Spent many hours looking up, testing installs.
I changed all the vhost.conf to remove php value settings, and add suPHP_UserGroup. Was able to restart server with no configuration errors. Then all sites on server went to the Apache 2 Test page, reverted back to previous files and settings. If someone may help me I would appreciate it. Looking to be pointed in the right direction.
