Hi guys,
I've got 6 servers running mostly 6.2 with 1 server on 5.7 because of compatability issues. These are currently on dedicated servers hosted out of Vegas. I'd like to move these to a VMware environment - does anyone have any experience with VMware providers. I've rebuilt 2 of the servers as VMs and they work fine, so I'm pretty confident they will all be okay. I've done a trial with stratogen (
vmware hosting) which worked but I'd like to compare them to others. I couldn't get vmware tools to install on the stratogen VM's though - not sure if that is them or me. I asusme there is some fine tuning that needs to be done to centos to have it run in virtualised hardware.
Another point is how to migrate them. I'm told you can migrate a physical server to virtual machine using vcenter converter but I can't see how I can do this on a running machine. I rebuilt the server from scratch last time but there must be a better way.
Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance.
Ash.
