I can't see how what you've described can be related to the software. I suspect a hardware issue -- a problem with the socket / plug.
But then again, should the internal loudspeakers be muted when a connection is made to the line-out socket? Perhaps not. It might be an idea to check the laptop's documentation / specifications. |

This is probably ALSA issue, I've found many topics on Ubuntu forums. Sadly, none of suggestions worked on my CentOS installation.
On Windows laptop speakers are successfully switched of when external speakers are connected. That's a feature. But on CentOSit doesn't work ![]() |

Hmm. Have you tried the updated Alsa driver, available as the kABI tracking kmod-alsa package?
