Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.
Generally, I would have to say no. YDL runs on the old PowerPC Macs, and apparently now on GPUs and some embedded chips. There is no current PPC version of CentOS CentOS has been reported to run on at least some Intel Macs. Try a google on mac efi OR uefi site:centos.org for more. |

You were not clear on what vintage Mac you are interested in, and the YDL reference would tend to indicate the older Power series systems.

Thanks for your answer, its an iMac I don't know the specs on it at the moment(its not mine) but after I set everything up I'll let you and anyone who read this how it went. From what I've been reading it should work. Also do you recommend isp config over whm/cpanel?

[OT] I recommend learning to administer the server without the use of a control panel so I can't say which is the lesser evil.

Assuming the iMac has Mac OS X running on it, choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu will tell you what processor you have, and clicking the More Info button will launch System Profiler which will give you all sorts of details about your system. If you're running Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or Lion (10.7.x), you're definitely on Intel and can use CentOS but not Yellow Dog Linux. If it's a PowerPC then you'll want to look at something that supports PowerPC, like Yellow Dog.
Note that if all you're interested in is running a webserver, you can do that from OS X instead of Linux if you want. Even the client version includes Apache (called Web Sharing in the Sharing control panel), though OS X Server will give you more powerful configuration tools. |

Well I'd prefer to run the server from terminal but I'm not going to be the main guy on this (I'm in college and right now I'm on break doing this for my uncle while I'm home) my Uncle will have to run it while I'm gone. He's a web designer so he likes GUIs. Also he uses jce so he doesn't like coding. All of this requires me to adapt normal things to point and click.

Remote GUI administration of a Mac OS X system is pretty easy as well. The "Screen Sharing" feature is really just VNC, so you can always remotely log into it via a Windows or Linux VNC system. But if you do have access to a Mac while you're at college, I'd suggest you both setup iChat, which makes VNC connections as easy as right-clicking on the other user name in the buddy list and choosing "Ask to share OtherUser's screen" or "Share my screen with OtherUser". Even works when both sides are behind NAT.
