CentOS 6.2 Release?

Signs point to an imminent RHEL-6.2 release. Bets on CentOS-6.2 release date are now open.

Edit:
# rpm -q redhat-release-server
redhat-release-server-6Server-6.2.0.3.el6.x86_64
# cat /etc/redhat-release 
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.2 (Santiago)

Unfortunately, by that time, the response from many people might well be "What is CentOS?" or 'I think I read about that in the "History of Linux" opening chapter of one of my technical books' (Oh yeah, that's right, books will be replaced by tablets by then as well !).

It took a lot to resist the temptation to start a new "CentOS 6.3 Release?" thread.

CentOS currently gets 86,400,000 hits on Google, is #8 on DistroWatch today, and is still on their Major Distributions page, so reports of its demise seem to be premature.

Believe it or not ....

We have just pushed a 6.2 iso set and trees for i386 and x86_64 to the QA server.

There are 3 or 4 packages that we (kbsingh and I) know need to be built/rebuilt.

I think we can realistically expect to have the packages in CR in a week or less time.

It is not April 1st. so this is NOT a joke !!!!!

And while we are pointing out things about CentOS ... how about it is the Linux distro with the highest number of servers on the Internet:

Thank you for your generosity but I must clarify one point.

The flag of Her Britannic Majesty's United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the Union Flag. It is an oft made mistake to refer to it as the Union Jack.

The Union Flag can appear as a jack when the suitably small sized version of the flag is flown from the jack staff of a Naval Vessel!
