Hello everybody

I have big problem on my website. I use $_SESSION for login and to save information between all page. It was working since 6 month and today i did "yum update" to install fail2ban and $_SESSION doesn't work anymore... when i change page all SESSION are killed...

I need some help to find where the problem is. Maybe yum update reset my php.ini config or other i don't now.

Regards

An update should not overwrite config files. Are you sure the problem was not created by fail2ban, as implied in your other thread? What happens if you disable fail2ban?

How long had it been since you updated? Are you using any 3rd party packages for PHP etc.? Please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh package" and showing us the output file, along with
rpm -qa php\*

I updated 4 hour ago then i install "epel" wich contain fail2ban package using this : sudo rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm

whith your command : rpm -qa php\* i have :

php5-ioncube-loader-3.1-07051711

php-pdo-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-xml-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-mysql-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-imap-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-common-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-mbstring-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5
php-gd-5.1.6-27.el5_7.5

What I meant was how long since the previous update, but were things working after the update a few hours ago, and before the EPEL additions? CentOS-5 has no php5-ioncube-loader and php-sqlite2 seems to be found only in the problematic Atomic repo, so the requested script output may be very relevant.

EPEL is pretty good about never replacing core packages, or breaking existing packages, except from other 3rd party repos. Please show the requested script output.

Look in /var/log/yum.log and see what packages are listed at the end as being updated today (yesterday?).

If you had read the link I provided to How to provide information about your system you might.

Was that the entire contents of /var/log/yum.log?

Those are the most likely candidates as far as I can see. I'd check your php.ini file to see if any changes you had made (or your provider) have been backed out. Look at the date on the file for a start and see it was changed recently. This might not only be updates that could have caused this but also any other changes you had made to the system that required an apache restart might have just taken effect if you had forgotten to restart afterwards.

Thanks for all your answer

I never modifi the server I never go to the server in ssh it was my first time to install fail2ban so i never change anything else on the server.

Do you want my all php.ini file ?

Maybe the solution, not the best, but maybe i have to reinstall all my server if we don't find anything

I don't know about reinstalling - hopefully not - but lesson-learned-#1: "yum update" early and often. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run. Still no "./getinfo.sh" results.
