Hi,

I know I can switch from gnome to kde or xfce from GUI login page. But I have a remote machine running centos 6.2 which can only be connected via ssh, how can I switch it to kde or xfce?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Jupiter

You aren't using any of the graphical desktops if you are connecting remotely through ssh, so "switching" would be meaningless.

Cheers.

Edit /etc/sysconfig/desktop:

DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"

Cheers.

Yes. I do believe that there is a command "switchdesk" in package "switchdesk", which might do the edit for you.

However, I would disagree with the terminology of:

The "GUI login page", the login/display manager, may let you choose a desktop for your session. Switching on the other hand affects what desktop starts if you do not choose.
