It is very unclear to me what the problem is. You say the problem is on with the guest, but say "i killed the server on 09:07". It is not clear whether some of the information is on the host or guest, nor if it was a one-time problem, or is still occurring.

Hi there

I have s strange problem on one of our virtual servers which both the host and the guest run under centos. Guest is CentOS 6.2 with all updates installed.

Here are some log entries from different logfiles i killed the server on 09:07.

/var/log/messages:
Mar 21 08:08:33 lin-zarafa1 ntpd[1776]: synchronized to 195.141.190.190, stratum 2
Mar 21 08:25:37 lin-zarafa1 ntpd[1776]: synchronized to 129.132.2.21, stratum 2
Mar 21 09:07:13 lin-zarafa1 kernel: imklog 4.6.2, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Mar 21 09:07:13 lin-zarafa1 rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="4.6.2" x-pid="1402" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] (re)start
Mar 21 09:07:13 lin-zarafa1 kernel: Initializing cgroup subsys cpuset

/var/log/secure:
Mar 20 12:38:23 lin-zarafa1 sshd[2056]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user root
Mar 21 09:07:14 lin-zarafa1 runuser: pam_unix(runuser:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0)

And there is nothing unusual what i see, on the kvm virt-manager i see on the screen messages like

INFO: task jbd2/dm-0-8:435 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task jbd2/dm-2-8:972 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task ts:main Q:Reg:1399 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task slapd:2122 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task slapd:2780 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task mysqld:2255 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task mysqld:2265 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task httpd:2243 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task httpd:3509 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
INFO: task cleanup:10427 blocked for more than 120 seconds. "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

in this state i can press alt + F2 and switch the terminal and kann type the username but after enter nothing happens and it seems that system is hang.

There is also a virtual win2k3 server on this physical server and he has no problems. the data files are on the same store. Both have 4gb ram and 8 cpu's.

Current the top don't display something unusual

Has someone a idea what this coul'd be or where i should look if there is a problem? I don't find something unusual. the server runs before this weeks without any problems.

Greetings
