I am embarassed and pissed off at the same time. I've never burned a DVD. I've never needed to.
I downloaded the ISO's for 6.2 X86_64 and Nero warns me: Foreign Image File The entered block size does not correspind with the image legth. The block size may be wrong Do you want to correct the value or ignore the problem? I choose Correct and it loops back to the warning. Look. Before you slam me with this isn't a web site about Nero please understand that I am trying to load your software. |

Since your partner told me to move the portion of the thread regarding DVD interfaces to a new thread this thread remains valid.
Known as either a PAE or a JAE 50-Pin adapter you will find this in many, many places. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320615991554?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I am still waiting for mine and should have paid $3.95 and bought it in the United States. I'm sure countless other will benefit from this research. |

What is PAE adapter. The only definition I know for PAE is Physical Address Extension which has nothing to do with cables.
The 50-pin "standard" is not something I have encountered, but a google on 50 pin atapi does confirm its existence and early hits are mostly about SATA adapters. We are now way off topic for the current subject. Is there something we can do to cleanly close out this wandering thread? |

I said nothing about a 34-pin anything. I specifically stated 40-60-pins. Since I didn't actually count I wasn't aware that it was 68-pins.
The Toshiba SD-C2402 uses a 50-Pin ATAPI IDE Stanard as they call it. http://storage.toshiba.com/techdocs/SD-C2402userguide.pdf I have one in my hand and it requires a PAE adapter. It plugs into the floppy drive cable just like the Teac CD224E that comes with the PAE adapter already attached in the Supermicro assembly. Quote:

Getting off topic for the subject of this thread.
Every IDE/PATA CD/DVD I have ever seen uses a standard 40-pin connector with either a 40 or 80-conductor cable, and a separate 4-pin power connector, and it looks nothing like SATA. Current SATA CD/DVD drives use the same signal and power cables as SATA hard drives, although some may also have the large 4-pin power plug. Some slimline CD-ROMS use a 68-pin connector, but I am unaware of any that use the ancient 34-pin floppy connector. If you know of such a beast, a reference link would be appreciated. |

I wish I could report making progress. I have learned the hard way this week that an IDE DVD-CDROM does not hve a standard 80 or 40 pin connector on the back with a power connector. They use anywhere from a 40-pin to 60-pin SATA-like connctor. The Supermiro motherboard uses the floppy drive connector for the slim line CDROM. If it is a Toshiba drive a PAE adapter card is readily available. If it is a HP Compaq drive not the case. The bottom line: look closely before buying.

Not quite following all that, but 3Ware make true hardware RAID cards that present to the OS as a single SCSI device. They are generally well respected and supported. Guess it could not hurt to try the newer model but I'd bet against that being the issue. If /dev/sda is a RAID it is not obvious. Let us know how it goes, and when this thread should be considered resolved.

Even as a noob I woujld thend to agree, Phil. I just rebooted and popped the CD out. I am going to change the RAID 3ware cards to 9550SX SATA II conrollers and see if that has anything to do with error 27. Error 127 is related to RAID errors. I don't know how they number but what the heck. The BIOS likes the 1TB hard drives and th 3ware I believe has its own BIOS that likes the Western Digital RE4 WD1003FBYX 1TB 3.5" SATA Hard Drive. That was my first thought...

I can't find any definition of anaconda error 27, and no such error is mentioned on the Anaconda Error Messages page. Since the system seems to be working I'd be prone to ignore it. As far as not ejecting the media, some drives seem to respond to that better than others, and that's pretty minor.
I don't see anything in your system information that might be relevant to the errors, but I will comment [OT] that you should immediately "yum update" to take advantage of the many security and bug-fix errata released since 6.2. That's a pretty small "/" partition and since you did not use LVM that could come back to haunt you, but can be worked around in several different ways, so not a fatal error. |

As asked for of others I ran getinfo.sh and here are the results. I did a basic server installation. I hope that this helps.

Yes, because I was told by Trevor to start a new thread on just this issue. So far no one has indicated what an error 27 is and Google isn't much help. "mdadm exited with status 27". Nor has anyone suggested why the CD doesn't eject either. I don't know that I have a perfect installation but assume so. You know, I said up front I was new and looking forward to Centos. But if these forums are for advanced users or developers only perhaps you could direct me to where beginners should go for help with your product. I am trying to learn. Open a new thread so I did.

Is this thread relevant, given that your other one that mentions a successful netinstall is still ongoing?

I managed to install using the Netinstall CD but a couple things happened.
First, it exited with Error 27. Second, it did not eject the CD. Thank you again for your help. |
