Hi, I'm new to CentOS, so I have some questions that I can't find by fast googling or documentation reading. The first question is about software installing. I'm trying to install Apache web server. The last version that availavle at base/update repositories is 2.2.3-53.el5.centos.3.
1. What 53.el5.centos.3 means? Is that a version of RPM package (e. g. a package of Apache 2.2.3 version #53) that was set by a package maintainer? 2. Version 2.2.3 is too old, so I want to install a newer version (a last one for example). Where can I get it? I tried to search it in rpmforge repository, but still no luck. Is the only option to build it by myself?
