I am relatively new to Linux and I am trying to install CentOS 6.3 for the first time. I installed it to replace Ubuntu 12.04 and so far I am very impressed with both the UI and the simplicity/functionality. It runs on an AMD64 Athlon 3500+
The install was very smooth, but I am now finding it incredibly difficult to connect via my USB wireless adaptor. Maybe I complicated things because I selected the Desktop install and then added a number of additional packages to be able to run as a development server. The kernel I installed is I have tried to follow a number of threads on here, but unfortunately I dont understand much of the command line, so whilst I can copy what is asked, it is difficult for me to be proactive in problem solving. I think the Adaptor (Netgear N150, product code nwa1100) runs on the driver identified here Computer Floss but there is little useful information provided about install. One more thing, on one occasion, on system boot, I had a yellow warning triangle in the bottom right of the screen and it linked to a report saying that the wifi adaptor had failed to initialise (I think this was whlist following another thread in the forum). Unfortunately I am now unable to replicate this to provide the report, yet I am sure it would be most enlightening! I would be very grateful for any help anybody can provide. |
