Hi guys,
I've got 6 servers running mostly 6.2 with 1 server on 5.7 because of compatability issues. These are currently on dedicated servers hosted out of Vegas. I'd like to move these to a VMware environment - does anyone have any experience with VMware providers.

VMware yes, although not recent. VMware hosting no. There are a bunch of different VMware products, and not all are created equal.

I've rebuilt 2 of the servers as VMs and they work fine, so I'm pretty confident they will all be okay. I've done a trial with stratogen (vmware hosting) which worked but I'd like to compare them to others. I couldn't get vmware tools to install on the stratogen VM's though - not sure if that is them or me.

That's a bit odd, but if they are a decent outfit it seems they should offer support for that. You don't provide any details so it is difficult to guess the problem.

I asusme there is some fine tuning that needs to be done to centos to have it run in virtualised hardware..

Not really - other than installing the tools.

Another point is how to migrate them. I'm told you can migrate a physical server to virtual machine using vcenter converter but I can't see how I can do this on a running machine. I rebuilt the server from scratch last time but there must be a better way.

Sorry, you lost me there. You should be able to migrate either a physical or virtual machine, but certainly not a live/running machine by any means with which I am familiar. For an existing virtual machine, it should be possible to move it to a new similar VMware environment. Please be more explicit about what you want to do.
