CentOs 6.2, kernel
Command: yum update Error Summary ------------- Disk Requirements: At least 13MB more space needed on the /boot filesystem. A default install of CentOS-6 will allocate 500MB for /boot. Apparently you did not take the defaults. Changing the partitioning at this point is non-trival, and a fresh install might be easiest if you have not got too much invested.
If more help is needed then please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh disk" and showing us the output file. |

Your /boot must be very small and I'm going to guess that you are running in a VMWare VM and you told it that you were using RHEL/Centos 6 when you created the machine. Their "easy" install only allocates 50MB to /boot and this is nothing like enough.
There are a couple of things you could try if a reinstall is not possible. First I see that you have both initramfs and initrd files for the same kernel and I would guess that only one of those is needed - which one that is will be in /boot/grub/grub.conf and you can probably remove the other. The second thing you can do is to edit /etc/dracut.conf and uncomment the "hostonly" line and set it to "yes". This tells dracut to only include the drivers required for this machine and its current hardware and not the "kitchen sink" approach that it normally uses which ends up adding about 10MB to the size of the initr* file. You will need to rebuild the initrd/initramfs by rerunning dracut after making that change to have it take effect. All of these actions have the possibility, slight though it may be, of rendering your machine unbootable so you should not do them if you have any data on this machine that you do not currently have backed up. |
