Hi,
I have several VMwares with different purposes in my notebook. It uses at work either at home, so I thought I'd set them as NAT and leaving the notebook with dhcp enabled. However I have had serious problems installing and upgrading the CentOS. When I create or clone a VM configured as NAT, an error occurs in the CentOS (5.8 and 6.2) repository tree and receives seguine message: Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/? release=6&arch=i386&repo=0s error was 12: Timeout on http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=i386&repo=os: (28, 'connect() timed out!') Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: base. Please verificy its path and try again After some time, the error was corrected when the VM configured as network BRIDGE. The question is: every time you have to install a program or update your CentOS have to change the type of network? |

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.
This seems to be more of a VMware question than a CentOS question and should probably be directed to their forum; however, on VirtualBox a properly configured VM with NAT works fine for updates. In fact this post is originating from such. I don't see why VMware cannot work the same way. |
