Hi,

I have several VMwares with different purposes in my notebook. It uses at work either at home, so I thought I'd set them as NAT and leaving the notebook with dhcp enabled. However I have had serious problems installing and upgrading the CentOS. When I create or clone a VM configured as NAT, an error occurs in the CentOS (5.8 and 6.2) repository tree and receives seguine message:

Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/? release=6&arch=i386&repo=0s error was 12: Timeout on http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=i386&repo=os: (28, 'connect() timed out!') Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata
(repomd.xml) for repository: base. Please verificy its path and try again

After some time, the error was corrected when the VM configured as network BRIDGE. The question is: every time you have to install a program or update your CentOS have to change the type of network?

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

This seems to be more of a VMware question than a CentOS question and should probably be directed to their forum; however, on VirtualBox a properly configured VM with NAT works fine for updates. In fact this post is originating from such. I don't see why VMware cannot work the same way.
