CentOS in the News : CentOS and Oracle
Posted by hughesjr on 2005/10/28 0:30:00 (31111 reads)

I want to start this article by saying that CentOS is NOT officially supported by Oracle as an authorized operating system.

Oracle will probably NOT provide official support for any database that is running on CentOS.

-----------------------------

Jeffery Hunter has a very good Oracle DBA / Development website at http://www.idevelopment.info/. Being that one of my current jobs is as an Oracle DBA, I have used Jeff's site as reference many times.

He has several good articles about running Oracle on Linux and a couple that deal with CentOS specifically.

CentOS in the News : Free Alternatives to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0? (Slashdot)
Posted by hughesjr on 2005/6/6 13:53:29 (4584 reads)

I'm not very happy with the (yearly!) licensing fees that Red Hat wants for RHEL3.0, so I'm looking for alternatives.

Posted by hughesjr on 2005/6/6 2:00:00 (4665 reads)

Many Red Hat clones have sprung up since the company decided to stop offering free downloads of its flagship operating system. Distributions like White Box Linux, Lineox Enterprise Linux, Pie Box Enterprise Linux, and CentOS Linux are among the many projects that seek to fill the gap between Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I tested the new CentOS 4, and found it to be a worthy upgrade that brings all the goodness of RHEL to the open source community.
