A number of mailman based mailing lists exist to support CentOS.
English Language (default) Lists
The CentOS Announce list is where Security Updates are announced in realtime. This list is read only for the general public. Only posting by CentOS developers and team members is permitted. (Archives)
The CentOS Continuous Release Announce list where updates to the Continuous Release repository are announced. The CR repository keeps your applications updated to the next point version of a CentOS version during the phase that the next point version is built, but has not yet been released. (Archives)
The CentOS discussion and information list is a general purpose communication list for centos. Security updates are currently announced on this list once daily. This list is read and reply for anyone that is a member of the mailing list. (Archives)
The CentOS developers list is generally used during active development of new CentOS releases. Some beta and/or RC communication typically takes place on this channel as well. (Archives)
The CentOS Mirror list is dedicated to the discussion of mirroring CentOS. The list is open to members only posting. (Archives)
The CentOS Docs list is dedicated to discussions about the CentOS Wiki and CentOS related documentation. See also How to Contribute. (archives)
The CentOS virtualization list is dedicated to the discussion of all things virtual on CentOS. This includes Xen, VMWare, VirtualBox, OpenVZ, etc. (Archives)

To keep abreast of current events we recommend you join the discussion and information list. If you are testing a beta or RC release we request that you join the Developer list as well.

1. Please turn off HTML in your e-mail client for these mailing lists. We have several subscribers who read the list with text only readers and they can't easily read html formatted e-mails. There is a place (somewhere) for the flowery stationary and themes that some mail clients offer ... but this is not it. Again, please only post text e-mails to these mailing lists.
2. Please do not top post to the mailing list when replying to a post. (See the Quoting Style link above, and use the Interleaved text method, deleting non-applicable text as required. If you need to reply to a message, and you do not need to post in interleaved mode, please bottom post instead of top posting.
Note: There are places to debate the merits of top posting and how it might have some advantages in relation to Interleaved text or bottom posting ... but this is not one of those places.
3. Please do not post 'off topic' matter here. Prefixing a discussion of power-line problems in East Orange New Jersey, and such, are off topic. Even if prefixed 'OT', the post is still are simply off-topic. The CentOS mailing lists are 'high volume' mailing lists; adding 'noise' of off-topic matter is simply rude and uncalled for.
4. Do not cross-post the same content to more than one mailing list, whether both are CentOS lists, or a mixture of those from CentOS and another project. Again, this is abusive of the service, is rude, and will not be tolerated. |
