Re: kernel security updates for SACK blocks & co

I updated my CentOS 6.10 system today and now have kernel 2.6.32-754.15.3.el6.x86_64. Given that it's the same version number as the article describes for RedHat, I assume this kernel has been patched. Is that correct?

Have you tried mplayer or mpv? You can use smplayer as a GUI front-end to both of those.

All the mail, and your settings as well, will be stored in /root/.thunderbird. Just copy the entire folder to your backup device.

Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?

I'm 65. I've been using RedHat or its derivatives on servers since 1995 or maybe 1996. Before that we were using Slackware on about two dozen 3 1/2" floppies. I find it kind of interesting how many of us here are in their 30s and 40s (20s also) and are able to frimly grasp working with CentOS where ...

Re: Cant start httpd service

You can accept HTTP requests on port 80, but if you have to serve HTTPS requests, Apache needs to bind to port 443. If you need to serve requests for both the Java application and ordinary SSL-protected pages, you'll need another server.

Re: Weird question mark/diamond symbols in html source code?

The HTML code you displayed looks suspiciously like it was written in Microsoft Word or some other Microsoft product. Styles that begin with "mso-" come from Microsoft Office. The page was probably composed in Word on a machine using Windows-1252. My guess is those characters are tabs or some simila...
