Re: boot problems after using dconf-editor...

No, no. I wasn't thinking to start a command at boot, but at after a user's logging into gnome, something like there's an option in Tweaks to start programs after a user is logging in, just that I was thinking to start a custom command, in Tweaks in Start-up applications it only shows gui applicatio...

Re: boot problems after using dconf-editor...

I'm not sure how, but after few reboots it started working properly. Basically I had changed the settings to Nautilus to show the files by type as default, to show folders before files, and to show as list instead of the icons view.; I had changed File roller's default compressions level to max, and...

boot problems after using dconf-editor...

Hi, I'm using CentOS 7.6 Gnome Desktop. I installed dconf-editor to configure some settings. After configuring some setting with dconf-editor, I had rebooted the PC and on the next boot, instead of showing a login screen, it showed a terminal screen where I needed to put the root password and then r...

Re: grub2 issues with multiple hdds and partitions...

Speaking more correctly: For a single hdd partitioning scheme, the /dev/sda1 style in /etc/fstab was working with grub2 correctly, while it wasn't working properly when using multiple hdds (sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesn't). Next things are partition labels and UUID's. Patition labels work o...

Re: CentOS 7.6, how do I recusively change permissions for a single user on a partition?

Well I don't want to take ownership for a partition or folder; it should be root, so chown probably isn't the command of chouce.

I had found that 'chmod -R 755 /path or 'folder name' changes to read/write permissions, but what do I need to input for a single user or group in such chmod command?

Re: how do I load additional firmwares in the kernel at boot?

Well, I'm using Athlon II X2 processor (Family 10), Radeon HD 5570 graphics (REDWOOD-PRO), I have USBTV007 Video grabber usb card (which uses Easycap modules and has additional firmware for it) and also I have a Astrometa USB TV 'cx231xx based chipset' card (which uses modules from linuxtv.org and h...

Re: grub2 issues with multiple hdds and partitions...

Not sure about that. I had tried few distros and on all of them I have been experiencing such grub2 problems with multiple hdds and partitions, although grub2 was working properly when using single hdd. Then I found out that I need to (when using multiple hdds and partitions) enter in the /etc/fstab...
