Re: centos 7 18.10 addictive

I switched to Centos 7/18.10 after many years of using Fedora. My last Fedora version was 29. I switched because the Gnome interface with Fedora 28 and later Fedora releases did not offer any migration path for gnome extensions. With Fedora 27, all extensions and as well, Gnome itself, worked well. ...

Re: [Solved] How do I find the path to my Gnome mounted USB

I believe that Fedora and RedHat follow the same route

cd /run/media/yourlogon/
ls * will show your mounted drives, including your flashdrive

Re: xfs or ext4 for Laptop

I took a 300gig partition and formatted it ext4. I looked at the amount of meta data (control information) and took note of the amount. I reformatted that 300gig partition for xfs. I looked at the amount of meta data (control information) and took note of the amount. XFS wins by a few gig. I have so...

Re: Checksums don't appear to match ISO files

An hour isn't really long enough for memtest86+ to find anything except the most gross problems. You should leave it running overnight and see what it does then. Perhaps reset your timings back to what was causing the problem first so you can see if it really has fixed it or just made it happen les...

anaconda problems with Centos 72 1511

I downloaded the Everything iso, created a folder and deposited the contents therein. I ran the sha1sum against the individual ISO*s and everything matches. I created a flashdrive from the DVD iso, ran the step "self-test and install". Self test succeeds --no detected errors. I chose KDE, and select...

Re: How to optimise Cent OS 6 with SSD

If your server "never" reboots, there is no reason to put those fstrim commands in rc.local. Instead you need to run the fstrim commands in a crontab. Perhaps run them weekly or monthly. 15 10 * * 1,5 /usr/sbin/fstrim -a #trim for ssd I run the fstrim -a twice a week. It should be run less ...

Re: Checksums don't appear to match ISO files

Trevorh, You were correct. My system dates from 2009 (dual core, ASUS mb with integrated network card). I did the following. a) I did run memtest for an hour without a problem (a few cycles with all the bit patterns). b)I reviewed the bios settings for dims and added one extra clock to some ram mana...

Re: Checksums don't appear to match ISO files

Are you behind a web proxy? Are you writing the files to a filesystem that can handle files > 4GB? Do the files you get appear to be the right sort of size? Yes to all your questions. I have ext4 file systems on a x64 computer with 8 gigs ram, and with Fedora 23 and SUSE. installed. I used wget onc...
