Re: Bridge - not working

I got it to work eventually. See this post: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=72441&p=305008#p305008

Re: bridge not working on centos 8

With STP disabled from the get-go, everything works now. I was chasing a red herring. The issue was because the switch actually disabled the port.

Thank you for all your inputs.

Re: bridge not working on centos 8

As a test, I tried to remove the bridge and could not get the machine to communicate on the network anymore. I had the networking team look on their switch to determine why nothing is working. Turns out, the switch received an unknown BPDU packet and shut down the port to avoid STP topology recalcul...

Re: Bridge - not working

I have the same problem with bridging. I used the nmcli command-line tool to configure it according to the examples/tutorials. Try this and see if this works for you: https://www.linuxtechi.com/install-configure-kvm-on-rhel-8/?unapproved=16928&moderation-hash=6f650a1d581d037c7abc79f2ccda02e9#comment...

Re: bridge not working on centos 8

I'm not able to get the bridge to work. I moved the testing to a different server where I verified that the interface is able to communicate with other hosts on the network. After adding the bridge and connecting/enslaving the ethernet interace to it, all communications with other hosts on the netwo...

Re: bridge not working on centos 8

It might not be the setup. The interface doesn't seem to be connected which is strange because it was working just fine prior to the bridge setup.

Could be something environmental.

Re: bridge not working on centos 8

It still doesn't work for me with your example (exchanging device name with what I have on my system). I'm assuming you're using DHCP but you're not setting the IP address info. Ordinarily, in CentOS 7 and below, IP config is set on the bridge interface but I'm not sure how that's supposed to work i...

bridge not working on centos 8

I followed this page to set up a bridge under CentOS 8 but unfortunately nothing can communicate outside the host: https://computingforgeeks.com/how-to-create-a-linux-network-bridge-on-rhel-centos-8/ I can see that the bridge is up. And it appears the ethernet interface is connected to the bridge. H...

Re: KVM - Linux guest reboot halts instead

I haven't tried running "shutdown", just "reboot" from inside the VM. Yes, I confirm it's also doing this for centos 6. Clearly, the guest is configured to restart on reboot or crash. In my case, it powers off instead when running 'reboot.' I'll try with shutdown -r when convenient and see if that a...

Re: KVM - Linux guest reboot halts instead

yes, that's what I'm doing to get the settings.

Running CentOS 7 but I believe CentOS 6 is doing the same thing.
