Re: hardware check script before install 8? [SOLVED]

IIRC the T630 and R630 are extremely similar except for form factor... my R630 has not had any CentOS issues I know. I stock installed via on-board daughter card and then "upgrade" later to a kernel-ml version. I have the "LSI MegaRAID SAS-3 3108" you show as missing, also. I've not gone as far back...

Re: hardware check script before install 8?

No script I know. However, previously from a @toracat post (https://forums.centos.org/viewtopic.php?t=71862): Please take a look at the known issues section of CentOS 8 Release Notes. The centosplus kernel (kernel-plus) has support for some of the drivers removed in 8. But you need to use the driver...

Re: Required Laptop specs to run Centos

CentOS 7 will run on almost anything in the last decade or more. The only occasional issue I've has is with WiFi chipsets (https://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml can be the savior if that's the case).

Re: Perl Module perl-net-telnet for Centos 8?

Doing a "sane" rpm create/install is not always hard for some perl modules... From a "build" system, here are some directions for el8 using "cpanspec" (I think these are in about the correct order. You may need to install some other stuff based on what you may not have installed that I do have): Set...

Re: CentOS 8 kickstart "device is too small for new format"

That is certainly an option. I would rather just be able to use the document tools. In this case, I think there is more of a documentation issue. It looks like the "--size" requires some minimum that is not documented. Not sure if it's because of LVM, however. So, "--size=2 --grow" produces the erro...

Re: CentOS 8 kickstart "device is too small for new format"

EDIT: There is at least one bug I'm hitting up against (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1737588) with at least "--reserved-percent" not being used. I thought I had a partial solution, but figured out there is seems to just be an additional anaconda bug... there is something broken with t...

Re: CentOS 8 kickstart "device is too small for new format"

There is a RedHat online tool: https://access.redhat.com/labsinfo/kickstartconfig (login required) that I did try. It has a RHEL 8 option, however, "The tool currently does not support any advanced partitioning." (https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/performi...

Re: CentOS 8 kickstart "device is too small for new format"

I forgot to mention that the partition layout does pass the ksvalidator tool inspection process.

I'm leaning toward some kind of bug with anaconda's parser or something... Any suggestions?

Re: kickstart/pxeboot

First installer "!" issues is source definition. I think you should comment the repo and change the url line to: url --url="ftp://10.150.1.7/pub/centos8-DVD/1905/" Second "!" for the screen shot is software selection issue. At the very least the "Development Tools" is just "development" and don't th...
