If you have the time keep us posted on your progress. I know a lot of folks are interested in the gradual progress of ZoL. (Doesn't Ubuntu now have a fairly simple zfs on root install?)

I love FreeBSD and use it myself as both desktop and server. But Linux hardware support is better than FreeBSD
