New @ CentOS

Hello Geeks!
I am new in the world of CentOS but willing to learn a lot. I decided on joining the community last week and found out that a new re;ease will be coming in yesterday. Cranky network didn't make me download the latest but i have the CentOS 7 downloaded already. I will like to be advised as due if to try the Version 7 first to learn from previous versions OR just roll into the new technology straight away . THANK YOU.

Hey lbnux! I guess before anyone can give you the answer to that, you'll have to decide what it is you're trying to do with Centos. If you're just going to use it for a regular desktop, I think your best bet is to jump right into 8 and enjoy the OS from the ground up! If you ultimately want to become an admin, again jump in and embrace 8, if you ultimate become a full fledged admin, you can always install a vm and study older still supported versions of 7. Again this all depend on what you want to do. I hope this helps a little bit! Good luck!

Hmmm very good question, the answer depends on how you like to learn, installing CentOS 8 will be the more difficult (jumping in at the deep end) route but ultimately you'll learn more in a shorter time.
CentOS 7.7 as far as I'm concerned is rock solid with huge amounts of support/users, 8.0 on the other hand is so new it currently has a very small user base so you might find yourself getting frustrated if you run into problems.
Mind you, I think the "jumping in at the deep end" learning method is much more rewarding.
