Need help to install CentOS in a macbook pro Intel chip

Post by diegocamacho » 2023/12/12 19:20:00

Hey guys. I know for all of you this topic is very basic. But I'm trying my best and nothing works. I have experience using CentOS on the workstations I work. And I would like to have on my personal computer.
I already tried many different ways. Is not so many tutorials showing how to install CentOS. I did all of them and nothing works. The USB drive I'm creating never boot the machine. I don't even know if I have the right Iso file. I need to say. CentOS. Is not so friendly. Specially for a beginner like me.
Maybe here is someone who can please help with that? Thanks a lot!

Which version of CentOS? At the moment there are:
* CentOS 7 (that will EOL next Summer and is basically from 2014)
* CentOS Stream 8 (that will EOL next Summer)
* CentOS Stream 9
Neither of the Streams is for "production systems". So none of those is good for laptop.

You could try AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux. In practice they are not different, i.e. "not so friendly" either, but each has much more active community than CentOS does these days.
