Gnome panel missing
Gnome panel missing
Install went fine but after logging I end up in a blanck screen with no gnome panel. I try killall gnome-panel but nothing appear!
Look like I also have no network connection. I tried yum update and a message tell me that it was unable to reach the server. When i tried to ping my router the system tell me there is no network connection.

Re: Gnome panel missing
I know this thread is pretty old but I still haven't solve this problem. I recently reinstall Centos 6 and I still have this problem. When I execute system-config-network a terminal window open with the possibility to configure the card but I can't see any option to start it!
I know there is some issue with the the library that generate the gnome panel so I'm stuck in the terminal window. What's the command the start the network manager in graphical mode?
Thanks!

Re: Gnome panel missing
All right, network is working, I reinstall it and setup the network in the install to start automatically!
But gnome-panel is still missing!
But gnome-panel is still missing!
Re: Gnome panel missing
if `rpm -q gnome-panel` says that it isn't installed then `yum install gnome-panel` should fix it
Re: Gnome panel missing

Gnome panel missing
Have you tried creating and testing with a new user to see if the problem is specific to the setup of the user account?
Re: Gnome panel missing
Same problem with other users!
Re: Gnome panel missing
Just a guess. But on the login screen, is there a box to choose your environment? Maybe it is on default? Pull down the menu and choose gnome. Then login. If thats not it, you have a more serious problem.
