Cent OS Wireless Card Logged in as root

Post by sciflux218 » 2016/05/12 17:10:36

My Cent OS server that's running version 6.7 will only connect to my wireless network if I'm logged in as root using Gnome. How can I make Cent OS connect automatically to the wireless without me being logged into the GUI as root?

Actually no, I know about this issue. I was able to get it to connect automatically via the Ethernet card, but it's not doing the same with the wireless. I found this website below, and I'm going to update the wireless nic card driver later on tonight and get back to you guys.

Since you can connect as root, you do not need to upgrade the drivers.
Make sure you have checked the users can connect option in NetworkManager.

The option for wired connections is also present in the same GUI in the same place with the same wording for a wireless connection too. There is no difference in the instructions.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

There was some confusion on my part. I thought that I only had to select those options for the wireless nic card. I saw that there was a section for wireless networks that I already had connected to and it showed my SSID there. I clicked on my SSID and enabled the option available to all users and it worked.

Thanks
