centos6.x on vmware does not connect internet

Post by geministars » 2017/12/24 11:31:07

there is not /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file on centos 6.7 ( installed on vmware )
centos 6.9 minimal does not take any ip address from network on vmware. if I added/assigned any ip address using ifcfg-eth0
service network restart at that command it gives that ip address used by h0....
I changed configuration on ifcfg-eth0 and I added nameservers to etc/resolv.conf but it does not work.

after yum -y update
şt gives PYCURL 6 ERROR, could not resolve host.

I searched on the net, I found some solution about last error mentioned above, but they does not work.

how can I find used ips on my network?

any help?

thanks

First, don't use 6.7, it's old and out of date. Only 6.9 gets patches.

Check your VMware settings and make sure the network adapter is set to the correct type - bridged/NAT/etc. Bridged is the one that usually works but NAT should also.

Check our FAQ, 2nd bullet point for a common network problem - https://wiki.centos.org/FAQ/CentOS7#hea ... 15906fa493
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
