Help - New installation USB keyboard not working

Post by innovative » 2016/01/11 01:38:44

I am trying to install CENTOS 5 on a new HP Envy machine. The USB keyboard and mouse works fine until the installer boots from the CD. I have read in multiple forums about BIOS options for legacy support, turning virtualization on, adding parameters for "iommu=soft" or "iommu=on" and none seems to be working. This had been an issue for over a week now and I really need to get this operational. Is there any advice that someone can provide that can help me get this going??

I REALLY REALLY appreciate it, thanks.

CentOS 5 is a really bad choice to install now. It has about 1 year of security updates left before it is abandoned. If you want to install on a new machine then use CentOS 6 (expires 2020) or CentOS 7 (2024).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

We are trying to install GoAutoDial software which requires CentOS 5. Any other ideas?

Talk to them about it. CentOS 5 came out in 2007 and expires in 2017. CentOS 6 came out in 2010 and expires in 2020. CentOS 7 came out in 2014 and expires in 2024. They've had at least 5 whole years to starting using CentOS 6 and more than a year to start using CentOS 7. If they are expecting you to install on CentOS 5 now and then trash it in a year and start over...
