Hi, I'm new to this forum and relatively new to linux.
I have VMware workstation and while installing centos5.11 on it I run into a problem where after all system checks vmtool instaltion starts but it just hangs there with the last line being "eject unable to find or open /dev/sr0". It looks like it cant mount the vmtools. Is there any solution to this?
If not can someone link the iso or the steps to manually install vmware tools. I've been looking through the internet but I haven't found any useful information.
I have VMware Workstation 12. Windows 10(host), CentOS(guest).
Thanks for replies in adavence.
CentOS5.11 VMware tools installation failing
Re: CentOS5.11 VMware tools installation failing
Perhaps you don't have a vCDROM?"eject unable to find or open /dev/sr0"
VMware keeps the ESX(i) packages at https://packages.vmware.com/tools (source: https://www.vmware.com/support/packages/), perhaps one of them would work okay (given that ESX(i) uses the same vHardware platform as Workstation - albeit at different versions)?
Also found this: https://github.com/rasa/vmware-tools-patches (not tried it as I don't use workstation).
Isn't there the open source version (open-vm-tools) available for CentOS 5?

Re: CentOS5.11 VMware tools installation failing
Thanks for the reply, I managed to work it out myself and installed them manualy. I found a guide on VMware page. Thanks again though! To be exact I entered "text mode" and did my instaltion there ( mounted the CD which I thought I didn't have but it was there all the time and installed ).
