SLOW after Cent OS 5

Post by ToddAndMargo » 2007/04/17 19:54:47

Hi All,

I wiped my 4.4 and installed 5. No hardware changes.. Under
4.4 a full backup (dump) took 1:05 hours (~52 GB backup file).
Under 5.0, the same backup takes 3:16 (~43 GB, yes it is smaller).

I am using an LSI Megaraid SATA 150-4 RAID card. I heard that
scsi was redone in 5.0. Is there a way to speed things up?

Many thanks,

I have a subversion server (Dell 1800 2.8Ghz 3GB) running a Megaraid SATA 150-6) where our I/O wait times while doing a repository load make the process take forever (about 10 times slower than on native controller)

Turns out the controller does not support 64-bit DMA even though it reports it does, thus causing issues.

Im about to compile a vanilla kernel.org 2.6.21 to see if this fixes the issue. Ill report back.

This subject is being handled in CentOS bugzilla:
