USB 3.0 PCI-e Card on CentOS 5.9

Post by Iyengar » 2013/06/18 17:28:54

We need to install a USB3.0 PCI-e card on of our Servers running CentOS 5.9. Was wondering if there is a list of Manufacturer/Model nos around for which drivers exist.
The kernel version is as follows
2.6.18-348.6.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue May 21 15:29:55 EDT 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

TIA

The CentOS 5.x kernels do not have USB 3 support at all. You'd have to use something like ELRepo's kernel-lt to update your kernel to a 3.x series and that will, at least I think!, have an xhci-hcd.ko file.

CentOS 6 has support out of the box.

Thanks for the quick reply. My next question would be; are there any specific manufacturers I should consider/avoid considering when buying a PCI-e USB3.0 card. I don't mind upgrading to el6. Should I repost this under centos 6 hardware support forum?

TIA
