I am running centos 5.9 and my pc has an onboard ethernet card that cannot see it.
lspci gives me
Atheros Communications Inc. AR8151 v2.0 Gigabit ethernet (rec c0)
is there a way to make it work since i do not have any connection to LAN?

Find out if ELRepo's kmod-alx package works for your device. This entry in the ELRepo bug tracker will give you more detailed info.

That is for EL6, whereas the OP is using CentOS 5.9 i.e. EL5.

Re: centos 5.9+atheros NIC
Hi.
thanks a lot for the replies. As i mentioned earlier there is no connection to Internet since the NIC is not working.
i have tried to manually download the file and install it through a USB, but no luck.
i will try to use the getinfo script to collect the info manually to usb and export it to this thread, unless someone has an idea.

Re: centos 5.9+atheros NIC
Not so good news. NedSlider, who successfully backported code to build kmod-alx for EL6, says it is not a trivial task to do the same for EL5. This means that there will not be kmod-alx for CentOS-5. :-(
Re: centos 5.9+atheros NIC
i have tried modprobe atl1e
it worked.
it worked.
