RAID 1 degraded

Post by asus77x » 2013/08/30 10:12:56

Hi,

I got this error on my trixbox which basically running centos 5, and leads to telephone calls problem:

kernel: buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 0
kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: scsi error: return code = 0x00040000
kernel: end request: I/O error, dev sdb, logical block 0

afer googling, i notice it's a harddisk failure which was sdb. it on hardware raid1 with 2 scsi harddisk.

1. can someone guide in centos on how to check which harddisk is fail?
2. is it ok to replace failed harddisk with larger size harddisk? will it mirrored from healthy one to new one? it's hard to find the same specification due to old model

many thanks for any comment/suggestion.

You can see what drive failed from bios of RAID controller or the software provided (if any)

It is always good idea to give more details about your system (see FAQ).
