Good afternoon.
I have a problem with a few workstations running centos 5.8, but not with all of them. They all have the same hardware and software configuration.
The workstations have 3 monitors of HP (ZR2440w) each and should run on 1920x1200 resolution. Some workstation have detected an Acer or Benq monitor that have the maximum resolution of 1920x1080.
Example of one system:
Workstation Z400
2x Nvidia Quadro 600 1GB Graphics (one DVI port and one displayport)
3x hp ZR2440w monitor. Two are connected with a DVI cable and one with a displayport-to-dvi converter.
Centos 5.8
Nvidia driver 5.3
If I go to the Nvidia Xserver I can see that there is one monitor detected as an Acer or Benq, instead of a HP monitor. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200. I have tried to add the resolution in the Xorg.conf, no result. I have copied the Xorg.conf from another system that works for sure, but no result.
Can someone please help me out? I have tried a lot, but cannot find a solution..
Thank you in advance.

Re: Nvidia X11 detects wrong monitor
Perhaps your "HP" monitors are re-branded Acer or Benq monitors.
Try them on one of the systems that is "working".

Re: Nvidia X11 detects wrong monitor
Thanks for the reply, But i have already tested it. We have concluded that the monitors are just fine.
Right now someone is checking the firmware of the videocard en the version of the bios of the pc.
The BIOS version and the firmware versions seem to be exactly the same on every system...
Anyone some other ideas?

Re: Nvidia X11 detects wrong monitor
Problem solved!!
I tried to use a custom EDID in the xorg.conf and that works. I created an EDID from a working monitor. So I forced the Xorg.conf to recognize the HP monitors.
