hostname becomes an IP address-like number

Post by ywguo » 2013/12/30 08:26:10

Hi Guys,

CentOS 5.8 was installed as a Guest OS with VMware player 5.1. The host system is windows 7.

At first, its hostname is localhost.localdomain. One day, its hostname became an IP address-like number. It was 192.168.150.128.

How do I fix that problem?

Thanks very much.

Look in /etc/hosts. Is the old name listed there with a different IP address? Maybe DHCP gave you a different IP address...
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
