Problem with Realtek RTL8111/8168B

Post by MGuimbellot » 2014/08/26 22:09:53

Hi

When we install Centos 5.3 from a pixie boot image we already have the realtek fix patch applied and if the system has 32 gig of memory
the network stops working when it loads device eth0 it says it is not there - if we drop to 16 gig of memory the network shows up?
Is there a fix for this?

Thanks
Pete

32 or 64 bit?
5.3 is ancient.
You should yum update to 5.10 immediately.

This is a CentOS 5 forum, so why state that you have 6.3 ( old ) and 7.0 images online?
If you are running 6.3 update to 6.5.
If you are running 5.3 update to 5.10 immediately.
We can't support those old buggy kernels

Nothing to be sorry about.
If the new kernel does not support your RTL8111 check the FAQ at elrepo.org for instructions on installing a driver that survives kernel updates.
