SolusVM setup and error on CentOS 5.8 - no ping

Hi,

I had an OVH dedicated server running a solusVM slave node without issue for months. 24 hours ago it went down (no ping despite the centOS greeting page).

The error was as follows:

Code: Select all

Mar 4 09:44:01 sl001-vps modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/4.4.19-mod-std-ipv6-64/modules.dep: No such file or directory
After reloading the OS and trying to setup SolusVM again the same error with the same symptoms pops.
I have limited knowledge about CentOS but the tech who did original setup and who is working on fixing the issue is having a hard time with that error and I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on it.

Thank you.

Sorry but you'll get no support for this setup from here.

a) SolusVM is its own commercial product that you pay for and has its own support channels and makes unknown changes to the o/s
b) You're on an OVH server and they install their own customised version of CentOS and replace various portions of it
c) something has replaced the CentOS kernel with an unsupported (by us) 4.4.19 kernel

I'd suggest asking SolusVM since you have to pay them anyway.

Oh, and also, 5.8 is *ancient* and has numerous high severity security vulnerabilities present. You should be running 5.11 plus the latest fixes. Also be aware that CentOS 5 goes End of Life at the end of this month and that there will be no more security updates for it at all.
