Will there be a single Server CD when CentOS 5 final release is out?

Post by amonlee » 2007/03/29 01:06:30

Hi all,

Since there is not a single Server CD in the 4.92 as in 4.4, I have the question as that in the subject.

The structure of the installation is a litte different with the previous release, I can't see the base directory under CentOS and no RPMS folder any more. So I guess the way of anaconda installing the system is different as well.

I really need to build a single customized installation cd. I am wondering there is anyone trying to do that already?

Any sugesstions please.

Regards,

I have the same question: is a CentOS 5 Single Server CD planned, and what would be the schedule? For me, this will be an extremely useful thing! Thanks for any info.

The single server CD is very useful, so I'd like to add my vote.

One only needs the first ISO image. It is best to install using 'linux text' as the installation choice(reduces the memory requirement) and un-select everything doing a 'Custom package' installation.

Something new to experiment with: http://www.instalinux.com/

Let's one build a custom installation that installs from the Internet (no media other then the downloadable ISO image created by the site) or from the CD/DVD media (the media is required for this).
