I am attempting to get imap to work with Centos 5.
When I try to connect from through telnet, I get the following:
Trying 172.16.39.129...
Connected to 172.16.39.129.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS STARTTLS LOGINDISABLED] [172.16.39.129] IMAP4rev1 2006f.379 at Tue, 24 Apr 2007 12:41:17 -0500 (CDT)
which shows LOGINDISABLED.
If I try through a client, and look at /var/log/messages, I see:
Apr 24 12:29:02 localhost imapd[6473]: Login failed user=maranade auth=maranade host=[172.16.39.1]
maranade is a legitimate account, and I entered the correct password.
I am using xinetd, and as you can see above, it appears to be starting the server when an attempt is made to connect.
Do you have any suggestions to get this service to work correctly?
Thanks,
Maranade
