What is SharedLockManagerStorage_v2-a7b9dbe12c file?

Post by Positron » 2014/10/27 18:59:21

Hello,

Rkhunter logs warn about a file in /dev/shm:

Code: Select all

Warning: Suspicious file types found in /dev:
         /dev/shm/SharedLockManagerStorage_v2-a7b9dbe12c: data
Would you mind telling me what is the purpose of SharedLockManagerStorage_v2-a7b9dbe12c file? Should I delete it?

Running CentOS 5.5, Plesk 12 VPS

Thanks.

I did a quick google search, and everyone with this question is running
parallels with plesk.

You might ask your hoster and plesk support.

Oh, your 5.5 is severely outdated, insecure, and not supported.
You need to update immediately, unless you have been hacked, in which case you need to do a complete reinstall.

Thank you gerald_clark.

I will ask them, too.

I want to update but my hosting company does not allow me to update but switch to another VPS product that has Centos 6. While switching email and other important stuff is not migrated. So I am stuck. Do not know what to do.

Current CentOS 5 is 5.11
If your hoster will not allow you to run "yum update" to update to the current supported version, change hosters.
We cannot support systems runningg Plesk, as Plesk replaces core programs with its own versions.
Normal CentOS support procedures will only break your Plesk system more than it is already.

I see. I am in the process of searching for an alternative hosting company. Hope to switch to latest Centos as soon as possible.

Cheers
