[SOLVED] CentOS 5.10 rescue mode

Post by nixguy » 2014/01/22 02:53:33

Hello,

With CentOS 5.9, I can boot 'linux rescue", and bypass mounting the / image. To get to the hash prompt.

However, with CentOS 5.10, when I try rescue mode it asks me for the following:

Code: Select all

What type of media contains the rescue image?

Local CDROM <-- the option I select
Hard Drive
NFS image
FTP
HTTP
Then I am greeted by the following message, and the DVD is ejected from its tray.

Code: Select all

            CD Not Found
The CentOS CD was not found in any
of your CDROM drives. Please insert
the CentOS CD and press OK to retry.
Basically, I need to get the # prompt; like I was able to with CentOS 5.9. On the CentOS 5.9 DVD, I have the option to skip detecting/mounting the rescue image. How can I do this with CentOS 5.10?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a bad burn of DVD1.

Gerald_clark,

Thanks for the suggestion. It was a bad DVD burn. I overlooked the first time; because, I was constantly thinkering with stage2.img. Hence, wouldn't work. So, tried untouched (re-burned) 5.10 DVD; and it's working!
