Xoops Sessions
Can Xoops be setup to remember your session? Everytime I come back I have to re-login.
Re: Xoops Sessions
Are you closing your browser?

Yeah, seems like if I close my browser for an extended period of time then it loses the session. Maybe there's an option in Xoops to have longer sessions?

Ok, I've been online for the past 6 hours, working in Firefox, with webdev.centos.org open in one of the tabs, and occasionally refreshing the page, and for some reason it just now lost my session :(
Re: Xoops Sessions
I'll check some of the options and look around on the xoops forums. I know I've run across this topic in the past.
I've also had sessions die on my, but not while I was "using" it. I always seem to have 1/2 a dozen open windows to the site so I never know for sure what the deal is.

Re: Xoops Sessions
hey, I found a setting that was configured for 15 minutes. I have increased this to 45 minutes of inactivity. If the sessions database grows too large, I may have to back this off more. (small issue with xoops and the way it tracks sessions.)

Re: Xoops Sessions
There is an option to save your login info in a cookie in the User Menu ... but it doesn't seem to be persistant longer than a session time out.
Is there anyway to make it so the session doesn't time out (maybe with a cookie).
I'll be looking at an issue, with the reply form open for the forum ... going from website to website to find an answer (in another tab in firefox), but the session times out while I'm doing research or other things ... then I have to go back in the web browser and copy the text from the form ... re-login (which put me back at the main page...not the place I logged in from), navigate back to the original post., press reply and paste the text back. Sometimes the text is lost (the form when using the back button is blank) and I have to start over with the post.
SO ...
1. Can a cookie be used to hold the login info so the session doesn't time out.
2. If not, can we make it so you at least go to the page you were on after a good login (instead of back to the main page) ... so we don't have to try and remember which post it was and under which section.

Re: Xoops Sessions
That option in your User Info, sets a cookie that remembers your Username/Password for the login form, sort of like Mozilla/Firefox's remember password feature.
While talking to Donovan, he said that the session only lasts 15 minutes. They set it like this for people who share a computer/browser so the next person that comes along cannot use their session.
Personally, I think we should use the standard like most other websites, 2 weeks. I know Google's Gmail, uses 2 weeks sessions, and you have the option not remembering the session.
