I do not have Verdana, Arial or San-serif anywhere on this (CentOS only) system.
No normal Linux system would because those are Microsoft Corp fonts.
Helvetica, Courier, Bitstream Vera ... Sans, etc ... are Linux fonts.
I can appreciate that MS dominates but here at a Linux OS site? = That's weird.
