CentOS 7Installation Help...PLEASE

Post by srinivasj19 » 2014/07/28 15:06:05

Hi,
I recently downloaded CentOS-7.0-1406-x86_64-DVD ISOfile. I have written the .iso file to a dvd and tried to boot install, but it is not installing(boot priority properly set).

Please help with step-by-step process of installation.
Thanks in advance

When you look at the contents of the DVD you burnt, does it contain a .iso file or a few directories like EFI, images, isolinux etc? If it only contains an iso file then you burnt it wrong...
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I am having trouble installing this too. The boot process ends with:

dracut-initqueue[3534]: Warning: Could not boot.
dracut-initqueue[3534]: Warning: /dev/disk/by-label/CentOS-7-live-KDE-x86_64 does not exist
dracut-initqueue[3534]: Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist
Wanring: /dev/disk/by-label/CentOS-7-live-KDE-x86_64 does not exist
Warning: /dev/mapper/live-rw does not exist

I have tried this with USB and DVD, as well as the full DVD version. The machine is the same as others I have changed from XP to CentOS 6.5. I will keep looking at this, but I post this here in case others have the same issue.

That has the smell of a bad download or bad disc image about it. Did you check the md5sum/sha256sum of the download?

Oh, and you are much better off creating your own thread with a descriptive subject rather than hijacking another one that sounds superfixially similar.

I would like to know what method you used to create the install medium (DVD or USB) from the ISO download.

Thank you very much TrevorH and also Bertan. I slowed down, did some more reading, and got it working.
The CentOS-7.0-1406-x86_64-DVD.iso download was indeed corrupted/short
The CentOS-7.0-1406-x86_64-KdeLive.iso file was correct but I had made a mess of putting it onto the USB drive. After cleaning up the USB drive and using the correct dd command everything is working well now.
Apologies for my thread hijack, I will remember that in future.

Google is probably of more help than I would be since I've not used Windows for burning an iso image in about 10 years.
