Need libXss

Post by mahmood » 2019/06/28 13:58:24

During the installation of Intel Parallel Studio, I receive this message regarding a prerequisite package

Xorg X11 libXss runtime library is not found.

I see a similar question at https://www.mail-archive.com/centos@cen ... 31166.html and it seems that I have to install libXScrnSaver. However, there is no such package according to my yum

Code: Select all

# yum list *libXScrnSaver*
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * epel: epel.scopesky.iq
 * rpmforge: mirrors.ircam.fr
 * updates: centos.vargonen.com
Error: No matching Packages to list
and

Code: Select all

# yum search libxss
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * epel: epel.scopesky.iq
 * rpmforge: mirrors.ircam.fr
 * updates: centos.vargonen.com
Warning: No matches found for: libxss
No matches found
Any thought?

libXScrnSaver is in the base repository for CentOS 7.

Also you shouldn't be using the rpmforge repository, it was abandoned and hasn't received any updates for many years.

Thank you very much. I found that.
I used rpmforge to install rar and unrar packages.

Nothing in rpmforge has been updated in more than 5 years so there are packages there that have unfixed security holes. You are advised to find different repos to supply anything you use from there.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
