CentOS 7 for VFX workstation

Hello!
I'm planing on setting up Centos on 256GB ssd, I'll be using it for demanding VFX work, modeling, rendering etc. What would be the recomended file system / partition scheme?
I've heard that having large swap doesnt make much sense nowdays when you dont hibernate or simply have too much ram to double it as swap (again, thats what I've heard).
I was also thinking of insttalling cinamon desktop (as seen in mint) if possible, because I grew very comfy on windows over the years. Any tips I should know? I'm not really familiar with linux command line but willing to learn a bit.
