Restoring Gnome 2 panels to Mate

Post by pkcarlisle-dot-com » 2019/07/15 20:03:22

A few months ago I upgraded my hard drive. I made a complete system backup first to an external drive. I installed Centos 6 from scratch, then restored my /home folders. I ended up getting everything back, including panel icons and shortcuts. BUT, the last thing I had to do was to copy something somewhere to restore my panel icons and shortcuts. I honestly don't recall what I did.

I just upgraded to Centos 7. I managed to keep all of my home folders and data. I still have the full /home backup available externally. I can see what appears to be my panel contents in ~/.gnome2/panel2.d/default/launchers. Can anyone give pointers on what to copy and to where in order to get my panel contents back in MATE in Centos 7? I presume it is possible.

Thanks!
