About CentOS's ELS

Post by masahitoshinchi » 2019/07/29 10:46:33

Hello, I have a question. Is there "Extended life-cycle support" for CentOS6.X like RHEL6.X? I could not find the Website..

No.

Redhat do not publish the source for versions of RHEL that are out of mainline support so it is impossible for CentOS to continue to support a version after it has gone EOL upstream.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thank you for the answer. I understand that CentOS6.X is not supported after 11/30/2020 (EOL).

Correct, that's when RHEL 6 goes EOL and Redhat stop publishing source for it. RHEL is still supported by Redhat after that date but only if you have the extended life contracts (which you have to pay separately for) and really only for security fixes. Since Redhat do not publish the ELS source after the official EOL date, it's then impossible for CentOS to continue to support it.
